2nd Annual #GivingTuesday Campaign a Total Rager of a Party

We did it!

After an incredibly successful #GivingTuesday campaign in 2013 and a busy year in 2014, we knew our donors were excited to support LAF, provided they didn’t have to go to another event.  So we decided to throw a Virtual Gala!  We dubbed it the non-event of the season, a lively evening of nothing at all, and encouraged people to join our party, celebrate our work on social media, and encourage their friends to get in on the fun!  Members of our Board and Young Professionals Board claimed the title of Event Co-Chairs and put forth a challenge: if we raised funds from 125 donors on #GivingTuesday, they would donate an additional $17,775 to LAF.  We were set to have the most successful non-event in LAF’s history…

And we did it!

Yesterday’s #GTatLAF Virtual Gala for #GivingTuesday was more successful than we could have possibly predicted!  Including the challenge grant from our event co-chairs, we raised $41,811 for our agency, and more than met our goal of 125 donors.  For #GivingTuesday,180 people donated to LAF.  This is simply incredible.

Participation was strong from across LAF:

  • 38 members of our staff either made personal donations or recruited donations widely from their family and friends.
  • 12 members of the Board and 29 members of our YPB participated, and helped bring in additional donors.
  • 58 new donors came to LAF yesterday through these efforts, as well as many new followers across our social media platforms.
  • Our donors came from across the country and around the world – we saw donations yesterday from as far away as Beijing and Madrid.

We could not have done any of this without the support and participation of our supporters.  On behalf of everyone at LAF, thank you for helping us make #GTatLAF the most successful non-event of the season!
